Creating your song in 4 simple steps
1. Book your free consultation
Have questions? Maybe you’re not sure what questions to ask? Maybe this whole idea is just too cheesy, well if so, you need to read this story.
Let Emily walk you through the whole process, by the time you’re finished you’ll be a pro too, promise! Emily is here to answer all your questions and more, she will meet with you in person if possible, on Skype or by phone. Ideally this will happen at least two to three months before the wedding day to ensure we have sufficient time to create the perfect song for you.
Our first chat will simply allow us to get to know each other better so that I can get an understanding of what services you are interested in. We’ll discuss your wedding, proposal or special occasion plans and we’ll figure out how you would like your original song to feature on your special day. We’ll discuss things like what type of music you like, the style and size of your wedding, and how and when we can incorporate the song into your day. We can also go through other services such as your Wedding Ceremony, Pre-Wedding Reception music etc. and also package options so that we can design a package that suits you.
2. Informal Interview
Once we have established your requirements and you are happy to proceed we will arrange an interview which can be done over the phone, via email, Skype or in person. We can work around your schedule to allow a time that suits you. I will have a number of questions prepared for you to answer during the interview; this will be helpful to both you and me as it will lead to an understanding of what it is about your relationship that makes your love so unique. I will be there to help you every step of the way, to inspire you to find the words you want to say, and get them down onto paper.
If you’re planning this as a surprise, you will need to keep your thoughts and answers private and away from your partner. Imagine the surprise, and how touched they will be by this heartfelt expression of your love for one another. I’m sure it will be heart melting.
3. Developing to writing your song
Following our interview you may need some time to absorb everything we discussed and you may want some time to work on your own story or lyric ideas for your song. I will also have lots of ideas from your answers to further develop your song so that I can play around with the style and feel. This song is an expression of who you are as a couple so the possibilities are endless. But for example you might chose to add a bit of humour and personality so it sounds more upbeat and fun. Or it might have a more romantic or intimate feel with a slower tempo with beautifully sung heartfelt vocals.
After we’ve gathered all the necessary information, which you will be involved in every step of the way, we get down to the nitty gritty of creating your masterpiece! I have many years of experience as a song writer and this is my favourite part of the whole song writing process. This is the time for me to do what I do best, and that’s to absorb myself in your words, your story and your personality so that I can allow my creative genius to unlock the true essence of your love and bring your song to life.
4. Your masterpiece written & recorded
I will send you a rough demo of the song once it has been written, so that you can give me some feedback or make any necessary adjustment or changes before we begin the recording process. Then when you are happy with the final draught demo I will record and arrange your song in my studio, and your final master will be sent to you on CD or MP3 with your lyrics. This is your song to have and to cherish for the rest of your lives together and if you wished you could have your videographer or photographer include your song as background music to highlight special moments during your wedding day.
